Is it possible to learn Java and AS3 on the same time without getting confused

I need to learn but will I get confused if I do so? I have no programming experience. I am doing some AS3 now But to find a job I need both Java & Actionscript 3

i learned them at different times and i would recommend learning them separately because it would get too confusing
