First if you are good at C/C++ then both Java and Dotnet are equally good to be selected as first. Because both support C/C++ based language syntax. Now lets focus to our goal...

The purpose of taking notes is to have a summary of information that you can use to review without having to wade through the explanatory detail. It may help to read the material once, then read it a second time for note-taking. When taking notes, read a section or several pages, then jot down the main information. Things at the beginning may seem really important, but as you become more knowledgeable with the material, the introductory stuff will become really basic. I'm assuming the class is hands-on, that is, you'll be creating programs, not just reading about them. So you'll get plenty of practice doing the stuff that's discussed early on in the book.

Here are some notes about taking notes:

1. Understand the efficiency of memorization.
A. Brief words or phrases are easier to memorize.
B. Writing or reading your notes out loud will help you to memorize.
C. Be sure to remove redundant information.

You can use any plain text editor, but I suggest using a color syntax code editor like Notepad++ (not the Windows Notepad) which is free and it will color the code so it's easier to read.

umm ya, basically what you can do is loop through the length of the number, check each character convert them into integers and then increment the array accordingly

So..

then basically just increment the number on the array

I don't think you can improve performance in a compute-bound application by having more threads than hardware cores. However, performance shouldn't be dramatically worse either, unless you are spending too much time with critical resources locked.

Half the time that pops up on my computer I download it and then when I go to install it says it's already installed on my system. So unless it's been a while since the last time it popped up I'd let it slide. They're probably minor updates if any. You should install if it's been several months though because you don't want to get too out of date.

I'll suggest the same thing I suggest to everyone else. Break up the problem into small problems. To start, write a small program that displays messages as place holders so you get an idea how your program is working and so you can see the flow. Add functions to replace the place holders so you are only dealing with one small problem at a time. When you get to the end, the program will have nearly written itself. Also, while you are learning programming and even later if you are writing programs, comments should be used so that the program is self documenting. This is so that you or anyone else can come back to the program and understand it well enough to make changes well after you forget what you did in the first place. Sometimes comments can be used as place holders as well. Also, while it is often hard to think of ways to abuse a program, you should take great care in only allowing the specific expected input. It is ok to write the program without the error checking initially, but as stated in the problem, you have to disallow any invalid inputs.

If you were expecting code for an obvious homework problem, maybe someone needs a course in Java programming. Somehow I don't think you'll be giving them the credit for their work though.

YA is a great place to get help when you're stuck. There are plenty of people here who are happy to help. Some of us teach this stuff for a living. But the people who know what they're talking about here will never do anyone's homework for them.

You might get a response from somebody here. If you do, feel free to turn it in. The people who are willing to do that in this community often know less than the ones asking the questions. You'll deserve the grade you get. -and the awkwardness if your teacher asks you to explain some code you "wrote."

Do yourself a favor. Make an honest attempt. Try to write the program, and let us know when you get stuck. If you're just having trouble with something, people will help.

So I am taking AP Computer Science and we have to outline each chapter. I am trying to take notes, but I feel every little word in the textbook is important and I am currently up to 3 pages typed single spaced with .5 margins and I still have about 8 more sections to read and take notes on. I want to use the String Directory, and replace "/pathname/" with something else, based on a user input (lets say the user inputs something and saves it as a string called Path).

Method celsius returns the Celsius equivalent of a Fahrenheit temperature, using calculation

So, in my method, my input and output type are both integer, or just input type is integer and output type is double because of the calculation c = 5.0 / 9.0 * ( F- 32)

I'm creating a brute force attacking tool that has high parallelism, however I'm not quite sure how to find the optimal number of threads to run.
