Because both support C/C++ based language syntax. Now lets focus to our goal...

• Java – If you want to go for open source development and want to develop applications for both both platforms i.e. for Microsoft Windows and Linux.
• Dotnet – If you are passionate about Microsoft Platform and Windows Operating System. I’m self confessed fan of Dotnet but at the same time want to say that every language is great it is your personal choice.

Secondly you can choose any language to harness dotnet which is a framework as there are total 24 languages that support dotnet f/w. But if you are good at C++ then please go for C# else you can choose every other language (like VB.NET etc.) are equally good and powerful. In my personal opinion learning one language clearly is sufficient enough to create anything even spacecraft of NASA or develop a operating system like Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thomson who create UNIX OS in C language and we are proud of their names till now. Yes, if your Graduation/Study syllabus wants to learn both language then surely learn both but master syntax of one language and try to understand fundamental concepts of programming languages that are common in all languages and they also make your new language learning more quick and solid.

The purpose of taking notes is to have a summary of information that you can use to review without having to wade through the explanatory detail. It may help to read the material once, then read it a second time for note-taking. When taking notes, read a section or several pages, then jot down the main information. Things at the beginning may seem really important, but as you become more knowledgeable with the material, the introductory stuff will become really basic. I'm assuming the class is hands-on, that is, you'll be creating programs, not just reading about them. So you'll get plenty of practice doing the stuff that's discussed early on in the book.

Here are some notes about taking notes:

1. Understand the efficiency of memorization.
A. Brief words or phrases are easier to memorize.
B. Writing or reading your notes out loud will help you to memorize.
C. Be sure to remove redundant information.

2. Relate to what was emphasized in a class.
A. Think of questions you'll want answered or clarified.

3. Scan over titles, subheadings and the first few sentences of each paragraph.
A. Focus on emboldened words.
B. Look for diagrams that summarize information.
C. Review the questions, at the end of a chapter, for important aspects.

4. Dive into the text, keeping the above aspects in mind.

5. Create an outline that incorporates your class notes.
A. Organize into sections.
B. Leave space to add future detail.
C. Use brief, descriptive phrases to trigger a concept.

6. Accentuate your notes.
A. Circle, add a star or highlight key concepts with different colors of emphasis.
B. Create flow charts or illustrations.

Are you trying to run a jar file using the java command?
Overriding refers to methods within a subclass which have the same name and same input parameters thereby voiding the superclass method call from that particular class.

Think of ASP and PHP as the same thing, just different flavors. Both are extensions of HTML. Both are somewhat prohibitive, for example, it would be difficult to program a site that used BOTH of these technologies.

PHP, ASP and HTML web sites can also utilize ajax, java, ruby, etc. Some are more difficult than others to implement depending on which design platform you are using. Some platforms do not allow (or make it extremely difficult) to implement the lower level platforms within the main platform.

PHP is commonly done in a LAMP setting. Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
Linux - OS
Apache - web server software
MySQL - Database
PHP - programming platform

You can add almost anything to PHP, like Perl, Ruby, etc.

It really depends on what you are trying to do as to whether PHP is the best choice. Some people will say you can do it in PHP, but the question is - IS it the BEST choice?

Try java first. The idea on how to create it is as follows.
Cast argv[0] and argv[1] into Integers.
Use two nested loops, one going from 0 to argv[0]-1,
the other from 0 to argv[1]-1
Inside that, use Math.random().
If the value that Math.random() generates is < 0.5, print out "0"
If it's >=0.5, print out "1".
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/…

First, go here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ind…

Download the JDK. It will include the JRE, so don't download that one, get the JDK.

And don't get any of the bundles. If you're learning Java, you're a LONG ways away from learning Jave EE and you don't want to use an advanced IDE like NetBeans or even eclipse.

Yes, and IDE will make programming easier, but you're learning how to program Java, so first learn it properly before letting another tool do everything for you.

Install the JDK and make sure to update your environment variables to point to the Java home directory and the java/bin directory.

You can use any plain text editor, but I suggest using a color syntax code editor like Notepad++ (not the Windows Notepad) which is free and it will color the code so it's easier to read.

When you save your java program, it has to be a .java file.

To compile it, go to the command like to where you saved your java program.

If for example, the file name is: MyProgram.java

Enter: javac MyProgram.java

It will compile the code to a .class file: MyProgram.class

To run it: java MyProgram

umm ya, basically what you can do is loop through the length of the number, check each character convert them into integers and then increment the array accordingly

So..
eg

for(int i = 0 ; i < telephonenumber.length ; i ++)
{
int phoneDigit = (int)telephonenumber.charAt(i) <-- basically converts the character into a digit) not sure if i can just convert int from char but.. something like that.

then basically just increment the number on the array
so.

digitArray[phoneDigit] = digitArray[phoneDigit] + 1; <<--- once u have the phone digit , it is the same as the index of the array, so you just imcrement that part.
say.. the first character of the phone number was 5 , then digitArray at 5 should now +1.

}

hope this helps

I learned Java in an online class through my community college and C++ through a face-to-face course at my University. I personally prefer the face-to-face courses, but I can see the benefits of online courses as well.

There are a number of ways to do this, by researching projects on the internet, creating your own projects and then referencing the internet. However classes will generally help you learn the quickest, at least at first. So I would recommend taking a class on it.

Here are a few sites that might help you find a school to take online computer courses at:

<a href='http://
<a href='http://

Make sure not to present yourself as someone inexperienced, as you think you are.
Also, take care to sell yourself as a quick but patient and dedicated learner. They may not actually find a candidate who has experience in every one of those and are very likely to settle with either the person who knows the most or the person most willing or capable of learning on the fly.
And, then again, in other languages that is reversed, and yet other languages anything BUT a 0 is false. All scenarios have weak advantages.

Java promoted true and false to literals. You explicitedly assign true to a boolean (no quotes).
boolean b = new boolean[ 3 ]; // you have three false in that statement
boolean b; // you have nothing, nullPointerException if you call it
boolean b = true; // now you can call it because of its statement

but, if on the other hand...
static boolean b; // this is loaded first into the heap, with default of false
all static statements on primitives and String receive their default

After getting knee-deep into java, we have to re-assess 'literal', 'operand', and 'keyword'. You cannot use any of these for a variable name.

Steps to follow :

-> Download the JDK or JRE

->Set the path fo java(where you are storing .java file)

->Code the java in a text file and save it as .java

->Go the java path and follow the below process.

C:java> javac <filename>.java

C:><classname>

Output

This is the easiest way for learners.

If you want go for a developing download the Visual Studio and JDK or JRE

Break up the problem into small problems. To start, write a small program that displays messages as place holders so you get an idea how your program is working and so you can see the flow. Add functions to replace the place holders so you are only dealing with one small problem at a time. When you get to the end, the program will have nearly written itself. Also, while you are learning programming and even later if you are writing programs, comments should be used so that the program is self documenting. This is so that you or anyone else can come back to the program and understand it well enough to make changes well after you forget what you did in the first place. Sometimes comments can be used as place holders as well. Also, while it is often hard to think of ways to abuse a program, you should take great care in only allowing the specific expected input. It is ok to write the program without the error checking initially, but as stated in the problem, you have to disallow any invalid inputs.

If you were expecting code for an obvious homework problem, maybe someone needs a course in Java programming. Somehow I don't think you'll be giving them the credit for their work though.

Java is the most friendliest. YA is a great place to get help when you're stuck. There are plenty of people here who are happy to help. Some of us teach this stuff for a living. But the people who know what they're talking about here will never do anyone's homework for them.

You might get a response from somebody here. If you do, feel free to turn it in. The people who are willing to do that in this community often know less than the ones asking the questions. You'll deserve the grade you get. -and the awkwardness if your teacher asks you to explain some code you "wrote."

Do yourself a favor. Make an honest attempt. Try to write the program, and let us know when you get stuck. If you're just having trouble with something, people will help.
How would one create a program that counts the number of times a digit appears in a telephone number. In the email he states:

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 1 year experience with Java/J2EE, SQL and relational databases
Core technology skills should include: Unix/Linux, MySQL, Oracle, Perl, XML, JSON, JBoss, Web Services (SOAP/REST), Swing, and OOA&D

I am only familiar with a few of those, the others untouched and not even being mentioned on my resume. So, I cannot seem to figure out why he would contact me if there is no indication that I meet the requirements.

Or, is this something worth applying for? I can't imagine the company being so hard up for employees that they would hire someone so inexperienced, given the economy.

I'd appreciate any insight you have.
You may use a random number generator to determine the arrival of a client and when to shut down the ATM for maintenance. For simplicity, each client has only one account with a balance, which can also be set up by a random number generator. The client's data need not be saved for future transactions.

After a client logs in (and the initial account balance is created), he can order any number of transactions (deposit, withdrawal, balance inquiry) until he chooses to quit. After each transaction, a receipt should be printed showing type of transaction, balance before, amount of transaction and balance after. Error checking for input is required.

Whats a good way to start programing

i am a teen [not old enough to drive].but i have seen some program scripts and i can understand the language pretty well. so i decided that maybe i should try proggraming. i have also seen in alot of places that it takes about ten years to master programing. i figured that if i got a jump start now i might have better skills when i go to college. so i want to know a good way to start learning the programing language and whats a good program to start programing with. i've heard of java and C++ but dont know if those are beginer friendly. well thanks if you try to answer

Need some help with Java.?

Can anyone please send me the java solution to the following exercises?
Java Card is the tiniest of Java targeted for embedded devices. Java Card gives the user ability to program the device and make them application specific. It is widely used in SIM cards (used in GSM mobile phones) and ATM cards. The first Java Card was introduced in 1996 by Schlumberger's card division which later merged with Gemplus to form Gemalto. Java Card products are based on the Java Card Platform specifications developed by Sun Microsystems, a subsidiary of Oracle Corporation. Many Java card products also rely on the GlobalPlatform specifications for the secure management of applications on the card (download, installation, personalization, deletion).

when we require Java Applet

A Java applet is an applet delivered to the users in the form of Java bytecode. Java applets can run in a Web browser using a Java Virtual Machine (JVM), or in Sun's AppletViewer, a stand-alone tool for testing applets. Java applets were introduced in the first version of the Java language in 1995. Java applets are usually written in the Java programming language but they can also be written in other languages that compile to Java bytecode such as Jython,[7] Ruby,[8] or Eiffel.[9]
Applets are used to provide interactive features to web applications that cannot be provided by HTML alone. They can capture mouse input (like rotating 3D object) and also have controls like buttons or check boxes. In response to the user action an applet can change the provided graphic content. This makes applets well suitable for demonstration, visualization and teaching. There are online applet collections for studying various subjects, from differential equations[10] to heart physiology.[3] Applets are also used to create online game collections that allow players to compete against live opponents in real-time.
An applet can also be a text area only, providing, for instance, a cross platform command-line interface to some remote system.[11] If needed, an applet can leave the dedicated area and run as a separate window. However, applets have very little control over web page content outside the applet dedicated area, so they are less useful for improving the site appearance in general (while applets like news tickers[12] or WYSIWYG editors[13] are also known). Applets can also play media in formats that are not natively supported by the browser[14]
Java applets run at a speed that is comparable to (but generally slower than) other compiled languages such as C++, but many times faster than JavaScript.[15] In addition they can use 3D hardware acceleration that is available from Java. This makes applets well suited for non trivial, computation intensive visualizations.
HTML pages may embed parameters that are passed to the applet. Hence the same applet may appear differently depending on the parameters that were passed. The first implementations involved downloading an applet class by class. While classes are small files, there are frequently a lot of them, so applets got a reputation as slow loading components. However, since jars were introduced, an applet is usually delivered as a single file that has a size of the bigger image (hundreds of kilobytes to several megabytes).

Java - A Programming Language

An object-oriented programming language that is platform independent. Developed by Sun, Java is widely used on the Web for both client and server processing. Modeled after C++ and designed to run in limited memory, Java added programming enhancements such as "garbage collection," which automatically frees unused memory.
When a Java program is launched from a Web page, the program is called a Java "applet." When run without the Web browser on a user's machine, it is a Java "application." When running in a Web server, it is a Java "servlet."
Difference between Java & Javascript

Java is a full-blown programming language, whereas JavaScript is a scripting language that is much more limited. JavaScript source code is not compiled into bytecode. It is embedded within an HTML page and is primarily used to manipulate elements on the page itself. For example, it is widely used to provide drop-down menus and other interactive events on the page.
